All articles published in the journal are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence, unless otherwise stated.

Under the terms of the CC BY 4.0 licence, users are permitted to copy, distribute and share the published material in any medium or format and to remix, transform and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial purposes.

When reusing material published under this licence, users must:

  • give appropriate credit to the author(s) and any other designated attribution parties;
  • provide a reference or link to the CC BY 4.0 licence;
  • indicate whether changes have been made to the original material; and
  • not imply that the author(s), the journal or the publisher endorse the reuse or any adapted version of the work.

Attribution may be provided in any reasonable manner appropriate to the medium and context of reuse. Users may not impose additional legal terms or technological measures that restrict others from exercising the rights granted under the CC BY 4.0 licence.

The licence permits the creation and distribution of adaptations, including translations, modified versions and derivative works. Where material has been modified, the nature of the modification must be indicated in accordance with the terms of the licence.

The CC BY 4.0 licence applies only to material for which the journal or other relevant rights holder is authorised to grant such a licence. Third-party material, including images, figures, tables or other content reproduced under separate permission or a different licence, is not necessarily covered by the article’s CC BY 4.0 licence. Any such exceptions should be clearly identified in the published article.

The CC BY 4.0 licence does not necessarily grant rights relating to privacy, publicity, moral rights, patents, trademarks or other rights that may apply to particular material. Users are responsible for determining whether additional permission is required for their intended use.

The journal’s open-access licensing policy is intended to facilitate the broad dissemination, reuse and adaptation of scholarly research while ensuring appropriate acknowledgement of authorship and compliance with the applicable licence terms.
